THOUGHTS ON MY WV EXPERIENCE

My WV Experience consisted of 16 years, from 1974 to 1990. It definitely was a new experience for me. I found the people overwhelmingly friendly and accepting of a "Yankee" from PA.

I was a late night person, by late night I mean I usually didn't go to bed until after 2:30 AM. I soon realized that the town rolled up around 7 or 8 except the bars and I wasn't a drinker. I remember kicking a stick up the middle alley (a can was too loud) from one end of town to the other.

The Lord solved that situation over time with getting to know some families and people that I spent time with. Ted Anderson was one. He was a local police officer that worked the midnight shift and I would ride along with him sometimes.

At some point I got a key to the school and would spend time there in the evenings working in my room and playing basketball in the gym.

I really enjoyed the kids, and spending time with them in school and  outside of school.

I enjoyed my time in WV and have a lot of fond memories of being there. I don't know how i got to know some of the people so well or why they were so friendly and accepting of me. I was truly blessed.

I will be sharing more as I continue to develop my WV Experience...
