DONNA BAILEY

Mrs. Bailey was a 5th grade teacher for 8 years and was the librarian at Whitesville JH School. She was a local girl from Sylvester, attending Whitesville, then Sherman HS and graduated college from Concord College.

I first met Donna my second year teaching 5th grade at Whitesville. In 1975-76 they added a second 5th grade.

In my 4th year I moved to Pettus Bottom in an apartment in the old block plant. There were 4 apartments on top of the block plant and one othe level above where her and her husband Kenny lived. Kenny and his dad Mr. Bailey had the B & M Oil Company which was located at the end of Pettus bottom.

Kenny's parents lived across the from the block plan. I enjoyed knowing Mr. & Mrs. Bailey and would visit them every now and then.
I remember Donna letting me use a kitchen table & chairs of her grandmothers which I returned when I moved back to PA.

While Donna was at the block plant she was pregnant with her daughter Heather. The pregnancy was rough causing her blood pressure to be high. She stayed over at Mr. & Mrs. Bailey's place during that time. I remember visiting her there.

After Heather's birth they continued to live there for many years and then moved down to Foster.

We taught together for 8 years. Over time we started to switch Social Studies & Science Classes. I would teach Social Studies to both of our classes and she taught Science. We also had gym together as well.

I had a parachute which we used in gym class. With the kids raising the parachutte up and down and we would have dodge balls in the middle bflying up an down. Some how I talked Donna to get in the middle and we were flying her up and down. Well one of the landing she landed on her tailbone. She had a sore tailbone for quite a while.

After a few years we started in a Master's Program. We took the classes elective classes and then the Master Classes. We went and stayed at WVU for our Master's interviews and then back up later for the Master's Exam. We both received our Master's Degree on December 22th 1979. She did a litte better then me both we received our Master's.

I really enjoyed knowing here and teaching with her. Over the years we have touched base once or twice
