THE RAMSEY FAMILY

The last main family that I got to know well was the Ramsey's.

Forrest, their son was in my second
5th grade class and his sister Marshelle was in junior high. They lived in Orgas beside the Hendricks'. His dad's name was Forrest and I don't remember his mom's name.

He was a pretty sharp student and person. I got to know him better at recess football. He was my wide out, he was fast and had good hands.
David Newberry was my swing guy. I hated to go in at the end of recess more then the kids did.

He was an excellent Speller and won the Boone County Spelling Bee for 5th Graders and was in the top 20 in the County in all grades.

He also liked Pro Football and I would down on a Saturday and we would make football picks. I may be wrong but I think he was a Steelers fan and at that point I was still a Brown's fan.

I had a Electronic Football game and it was the craze for a while. He and next door neighbor Carolyn got one to. They were two of the best behind me and Leebo.

One winter weekend I took Forrest and Carolyn, his neighbor up to my sister's place in Dayton, PA. While there, we went sled riding.

I was a pinball player and so was Forrest. I would come down and we would ride up to Charleston with his parents who bowled in a league in there. While they bowled we played pinball.

We also played Mattel Intellivision Football. I wasn't too hot at that, but we were competitive anyhow.

Him and his sister would come up and help with decorating my room some evenings at the school.

I remember his dad came up once and helped me drywall the garage of a place I built in 1980-81 in Pettus Bottom. I was cutting a piece of dry wall and we picked it up to make sure we were on the line. I dropped mine first and I heard him mutter something. I looked up and there he was with his face covered with dry wall dust. It was right out of a 3 Stooges video.

As he got into high school we didn't cross much but I did go to his graduation.
